Welcome to the Fall Felt-A-Long HUB
Hi! The Felt-A-Long is done, but the replays are below.
This video covers both acorns and pumpkins. The pumpkin section starts at the 42:30 minute mark - you should be able to skip forward to this time.
SUPPLY LIST & TEMPLATES
Use this list and links to source your own supplies.
📄 1.Leaf Templates
✅ Download the Templates We Use to Make 6 Fall Leaves - Click Here for the PDF File
2.Stabilizer Paper for Template
We use standard stabilizer backing that is most often used in embroidery. (The regular kind, not the wash-away.) This provides a bit of stability and an easy felting surface for the leaves.
You will trace a shape about 1/4 inch larger than the leaf shape you're working on from the templates. Do a rough cut out. (You don't need to have the details of the leaf edges at this point. Just an oval/circle shape is fine.) And then use your carded wool roving in the color for this leaf and felt both sides of the stabilizer cutout. (Watch the live class or replay the week of October 4 for more details.)
🎨 3. Carded Wool – in Fall Colors
Carded Corriedale & Our Felting Fleece wools are ideal — they felt easily and hold details well.
➡️ We sell these ¼ oz or 1 oz bundles on our site. Shop for Fibers. https://bellasflock.com/collections/felting-wool-supplies
We use red for the maple leaf, yellow for the aspen leaf, mustard for the smaller oak leaf, muted orange for the larger oak leaf, greenish/yellow for the birch leaf and plum for the redbud leaf. For the acorns and pumpkins we also add in a robin's egg blue color as a fun accent.
One ounce of carded wool will make:
* 2 -3 fall leaves
* 3-4 pumpkins (if using core wool for the interior - see #4)
* 10 acorns (if using core wool for the interior - see #4)
IMPORTANT: These projects work best with carded wool (batts/roving), not combed top. Choose medium-grade fibers—like Corriedale—for faster felting and crisper edges. Avoid Merino and long-stapled fibers.
🐑 4. Core Wool – for the center of the acorns & pumpkins
natural, minimally processed
Core wool is carded fiber left in its natural color with a touch of the sheep’s lanolin still present. That slight lanolin helps the fibers grab and felt quickly, so you can build firm shapes fast. It’s perfect for the inside/underlayers of projects—like acorns & pumpkins, —so you can save your colored wool for the surface.
Each ounce of core wool will make the interior section for about 3 pumpkins 10 acorns.
🌰 5. Acorn Tops
We use real acorn tops in our kits. We don't have a supply to sell on our store, but you can find options if you search for real acorn tops for sale. Or collect your own! (Just recommend doing a quick search for cleaning / preserving.)
🪡 5. Felting Needles
-
Recommended: Size 38 triangle (smooth finish) and having two or more on hand is ideal, in case one breaks.
 -
You can use size 36 (common in beginner kits) — it works fine, but may leave a slightly rougher texture
 - Needles are also available for sale on our site >>click here

🧽 6. Felting Pad or Mat
-
You will need a felting surface for the leaves. Ideally at least 6x6 inches
 -
Foam or wool mats both work.
 - You can purchase / see what these are like here >https://bellasflock.com/products/felting-foam-pad
