What You’ll Need for Class
You can also purchase supplies or use supplies you already have at home — I’ll show everything I’m using during the class so you can follow along with whatever you’ve got.

Here are the basics:

• A felting needle (Any standard needle will work. I generally use a size #38 triangle.)

• A small felting mat or foam pad

• Core Wool to create the Tomten's body. (about 1 ounce for each Tomten)

• Colored Wool roving or batting in a few simple colors (reds, creams, greys, greens — ideally carded wool as it works better for felting. But we can probably work with whatever you have available). Each clothing item (hat, outfit...) uses about 1/4 ounce of carded, colored wool.

• A pair of scissors

• Optional: a small wooden dowel or wooden skewer to help shape the body — I’ll show the one I use during class.

If you’re newer to needle felting or don’t have materials on hand, the Tomten Kit is the easiest option. It has the exact wool colors, needle, and the little wooden base with dowel I’ll be using in class.
